Born and raised in Elmira, Ontario and currently living in London, Ontario, Grainger wrote a play about Richard Manuel from the iconic Canadian rock group The Band. The play was performed at Western University in 2016. Along with Richard Manuel's son, Grainger also helped to create the Richard G. Manuel Music Award at Western University, now in it's 11th year, that goes annually to a well deserving performance music student at the Don Wright Faculty of Music. Grainger continues to produce concerts and each year he presents a musical event that raises funds for the scholarship. Grainger is currently working to a produce a play he wrote about Chuck Leavell, Music Director and Keyboardist with The Rolling Stones. Grainger has presented concerts featuring Leavell on two occasions. When not working on these projects, he works full time as a crisis worker in suicide intervention and spends time with his wife Jillian and their two children.
